Use hairstyles sofware and you'll know whether you'll like it or not BEFORE you get it cut.

The graduated bob, which is flattering on almost any face shape, doesn't necessarily have to be short. All it means is that the front is cut at an angle and is longer than the back. Your hair can be cut in the back right at your nape, or it can be shoulder length. Also, you can have a graduated bob with or without layers. If you're worried about poufiness, don't have your stylist put layers in. The graduated bob is such a general term for the haircut, so it might be a good idea to bring in pictures of the exact length and style you want.

Is your hair curly? Or just thick? I had a graduated bob, (when I was looking for stylist the term most used THEN was 'stacked bob'...that was a bit ago though) a few years ago and everyone raved about it. The trick in this is to go to a VERY GOOD hairstylist. They are more expensive but like all things, you do get what you pay for; the talent of the stylist. Graduated bobs look better with medium length hair, just so you know (this is according to my stylist).

My daughter had a graduated bob, and for her it didn't look good on her. Luckily she was just 8 so she didn't have the 'hair trauma' that her Mom is so accustomed to ;)

My suggestion for you is this: Contact several hairstylists (get recommendations by friends...by the way...the hairstylist I found for my bob was through a lady that had a very chic graduated bob and I simply approached her, fawned over her (very sincere!) and asked for her stylist. She kindly gave it to me). When you speak to the stylist, meeting with them, explain what you shared here and they can look at your hair and give you an honest opinion of what would be a great style for you. If they don't listen, move on. Go to the next. May be a bit time consuming, but when you're talking hair and getting it short you want it done right and done well. Very worth it.

Go to the link below and see if you can come up with what you have and get an idea of what it will look like on you.

Have fun, and hopefully many thrilling days with 'good hair days' coming your way!!

You're right about the poof. Like a big triangle. Have you seen Jenny McCarthy or Jenna Jamison's new diagonal forward sleek bobs? They're more updated than the big shroom puff triangle bob.
