Does anyone know about nerve endings when dogs get too short of a hair cut?

My dog gets her hair cut and acts psycho. She "star gazes" (looks up and around like she is possessed). Has anyone heard of this? Should I stop having her hair cut? She stops the behavior after a week or so.

I woudn't suggest not having her hair cut..especially if she is a dog that NEEDS hair cuts. (Poodle, Shihtzu, yorkie etc)

How often do you have her cut? If you are letting the hair get really long (and maybe even matted) the dog is going to feel a little weird not having all that weight on her. Our heads feel a little different when we get our hair cut too.

Cutting the hair does not affect any nerves. I'm sure your dog is fine.

Maybe she just likes the new look!! Getting the hair even shaved bald does not effect the nerve endings!!!!!!!!

Ive heard of this happening to some dogs because the buzzing of the clippers causes them to get a headache- or their head feels lighter because of lack of hair..

It's probably just a bit of shock from the sudden change in the way your dog's fur feels. It's nothing to worry about, if the groomer knows what she's doing.

the behavior has nothing to do with the actual cutting of your dogs hair. it could have to do with her state of mind during the hair cut. i am a professional groomer and can assure you a hair cut won't affect your dogs mental state.
